We were supposed to SKIP August, remember?
And now it is hot and gross out. Y'all didn't concentrate hard enough. We had a PLAN!
I am trying to get a more regular newsletter schedule going. Remember blogs? I was great at keeping one of those going, but I wasn’t also running a practice and writing actual books at the same time. I found some essays I wrote awhile back and never published so I thought I could get them all typed up and cleaned up and started sharing them.
I did not do that.
Which is all to say I didn’t update this weekend because I was making elventy-trillion chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream icing. And finding a notary on a Sunday morning. These two tasks were unrelated to each other, but maybe would have been more fun if they had been combined somehow.
I also got bagels! Really good bagels. I had a delicious bagel at Rose Hip Market last week, texted a friend about it (which just goes to show how irritating a friend I am, I get way too excited about food) and she knows one of the owners and got me 12 more delivered. My son declared the everything bagels are all his…but I got to eat some of the other ones and am a happy camper.
(And apparently they are working on finding a new pick up location, so I can order and pick up their bagels on the regular…I am pushing for a location out here in the gayborhood because the world should revolve around me and my love of treats).
I emptied and organized the random boxes of books and decks that were still floating around out back and eyeballed what I have a ton of. So expect maybe some cool BOGO deals in the near future so you can stock up for presents or for running your own groups or whatever. As mentioned earlier, my lovely nephew runs the Etsy shop and has upcoming sales all planned out, so you can heart the store if you have an Etsy account, and I will hopefully remember to send out the sale notice at the start of the sale instead of at the end like last time.
What else? I finished the book Cassandra In Reverse, which is a sweet and funny novel…as well an extended allegory of how autism makes you feel like the world isn’t designed for you and the impulse to mask. And also, what would have been James Baldwin’s 100th birthday was last week. Someone found a list of all the records that were in his home in France when he died and made a Spotify playlist of them. If you want to have aural, Baldwinesque inspiration this week.
And now back to book edits! Here’s hoping that I’ll get some old essays transcribed by next week.
Please help me find the FF button for August. Cuz in September we can at least pretend it’s autumn. And I promised my nephew I’d teach him how to make pumpkin fry bread this autumn.
MUAH!

I absolutely LOVE Harvey’s bagels! I buy them regularly by the dozen at Bar Loretta Market in Southtown.
